Hi, I’m chris genther.
Growing up in West Michigan taught me the value of connection, resilience, and showing up for people when life feels heavy. Since earning my MSW in 2020, my career has taken me through youth crisis work, emergency room psychiatric evaluations, and outpatient therapy settings across Michigan before ultimately opening my own private practice. In 2026, I made the move to Chicago — a city that has always felt like a second home — and I now provide telehealth therapy to clients throughout both Michigan and Illinois. My professional background has given me extensive experience working with crisis, trauma, anxiety, depression, burnout, and stress-related challenges, but what I’m most passionate about is helping people navigate the overwhelming expectations that society — and often we ourselves — place on our lives.
My approach to therapy is collaborative, nonjudgmental, and grounded in authenticity. I believe therapy should feel like a space where you can exhale, show up exactly as you are, and feel genuinely supported without pressure to have everything figured out. I love helping clients reconnect with the resilience they already carry within themselves while building practical tools for lasting change. Outside of the therapy room, you can usually find me traveling whenever I get the chance, spending time with my dog Apollo, or hanging out with family and friends. I believe healing and growth happen through real human connection, and I strive to bring warmth, honesty, and even a little humor into the work we do together.
